Customers outside the UK mainland will be charged the exact carrier rates – these can be quoted when the order is known.

Do your prices include VAT?

No. UK VAT is currently an additional 20% on everything including carriage.

Overseas customers with a VAT number are excluded from VAT charges.

Our VAT No is: 175373153 (also on the bottom of all invoices).

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment can be made directly to our bank account (details are at the bottom of every invoice/proforma and by request). Sorry, we do not accept PayPal or American Express.

We do not take payment from customer cards until orders are ready for despatch. Card details are destroyed afterwards in line with the Payment Card Industry Standards.

Can I pay in Euros?

Certainly. Please let us know that you would like invoicing in Euros when you order and we’ll create an invoice/proforma with our Euro account details on it.

Can I have samples?

Certainly. Please contact us with a list of the samples you’d like – please use our fabric codes if possible.

Do you charge for samples?

We send out small samples stapled to A4 pages (with details of the fabrics) free of charge – as many as will fit in an A4 envelope. We charge for larger samples that require special cutting to cover the fabric cost and the time and labour involved. We post samples 2nd class via the Royal Mail – please allow 5 working days for them to arrive.

Are the colours on your site exact?

Honestly? Probably not. They are as close as we could get them on our screens and printers at Oddies. Your computer/tablet/phone screen and printer is different and will show colours differently. If you need to match something else please ask for samples.

Are the weights on your site exact?

They are approximate and can vary by +/- 10% from shipment to shipment due to variations in yarn/fibre weights. Different colours of the same fabric can also be slightly different weights. And, even wrapped, fabrics absorb a little moisture from the atmosphere which increases their weight slightly (though they don’t become wet!).

Will the fabric I buy match the samples exactly?

Most of the time yes. But colours do vary slightly from shipment to shipment and our sample pages can be made up well in advance of your receiving them. If a specific colourway is required it is better to send us a cutting.

If I buy a fabric and need more later will the colour be exactly the same?

Colours can vary slightly from batch to batch and shipment to shipment – if an exact match is required please send us a sample.

What is your minimum order?

Unless otherwise specified 1 full folded piece (stated length folded half-width on a board) or roll as per the individual fabric descriptions on our website, sample sheets, or other literature.

Do I have to purchase by the roll/piece?

Yes – unlike other supposed “wholesalers” we only take one bite of the cherry and sell only to wholesale customers – we do not sell by the metre to the public.

Do roll/piece sizes vary?

Yes – the lengths listed on this site, our sample sheets, and in our literature are the most common sizes that occur for each fabric. Rolls/pieces maybe a few metres larger or smaller than the specified lengths. If an exact metreage is required we will try our best to meet it for you within the restraints of the available roll/piece sizes.

Are your washing and drying guidelines guaranteed?

The washing and drying instructions provided on this website are as provided by the manufacturer and we have not tested their veracity. Fabrics can also vary slightly from shipment to shipment. It is always advisable to test wash and test dry any fabric before making it into a garment or any other product.

Small Faults & Joins

International standard is that in any one roll (40-50 meters) there might be 5 or 6 small faults therefore in smaller pieces this carries on that there may be 1 or 2 small faults depending on the size.  It is also accepted that there may be joins within a roll or folded piece, however, there should not be less than 2 meters of fabric before a join and no more than 1 join in any one piece.  Please note that this is always kept to a minimum and is occasional.

Have you had your fabrics tested?

Unfortunately to test every colourway of every fabric for EN71, flammability and other requirements would cost our other arm and leg. We have tested a colourway of the ones we are asked for most often. The certificates for these are available in the Certificates section of this website. This has satisfied the due diligence of most of our customers – but if a specific test is required please contact the testing house on the certificates who will be happy to do the tests for you at very reasonable rates.

Are your fabrics Fire-Retardent?

Very few are Fire-Retardent – C5577 FR Leathercloth; C6272 FR Muslin, ES011 Toy Fur & ES017 Dress net – certificates for these can be found in our Certificates section. Should you need a fabric flameproofing Gort Flameproofing Services (details on our certificates) will be happy to help.

Is your warehouse open to wholesale customers?

Yes. We are open Monday & Tuesday 7:30am to 5:00pm Wednesday & Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm Friday 8:00 to 1:00pm excluding public holidays. Please be aware that we have working machinery including forklifts and that any children brought with you are your sole responsibility.

Are all your fabrics on this website?

No. But we’re getting there. To see our full range please come to our warehouse. We also exhibit at the NEC in February each year – please contact us

Is everything on your site in stock?

The colourways and fabrics shown on our site are what we bought initially or those we try to stock 365 days per year. As this is not always possible we update the brochures in our  Pricelists & Brochures section regularly – the date after the file name is when it was last updated.

Do I need an appointment to visit your warehouse?

No. But if you can email/ring ahead to let us know when you’re thinking of coming we can make sure that there’s someone available to help you.
